i started this roll with that shot.. one of these shot you usually not take because it seems nonsens to shoot at f2.0 3200iso in complete darkness on a 1/4ht on a moving subject that's 20meters far away.. but yeah i'm glad that i panned the drunken man in the distance.. i love this photo.

it was 5pm and someone nocked on my door.. i was still asleep because i went to bed at 9am.. it was bernhard.. i opened the door and cought bernhard leaving again.. then suddenly someone else popped out. it was ryan. who stayed in place for a week. of course i said yes, i felt the vibe.. lotsa gay action.

this guy.. haha i loved him. he was weird.. i got him in the perfect moment. he sayd "thank you, thank you!" nothing else.. because i took his photo :D

i wanted to shoot his wrinkles. i think he was a teacher. italian.. i guess. his whole class was in the train.. i bet the pupils loved this photo if they saw it..

hm. it's kinda hard for me to take photos of disabled people.. but then again, i don't make a difference who i shoot.. so i don't see why i should feel bad at all, i'm not making fun of it, i liked how cool this fellow seemed to me. the only problem is that people might think you make fun of them when you shoot them..

photos from the national holiday (50% of them, the medium format photos are missing atm)

i took this one of the girls. we thought they were hot.. somehow. of course they asked us for a photo.. we were the pimps on the place.

that's the photo they took: wow.. lol:

...

this one is for radiohat. my shot was for free though ;)

i took a photo of them. not a special one.. he asked if i try to shoot them and i replyed, too late, i allready did. she said to me that it was not right to take a picture of them without asking for their permission. i told her that i can take pictures of everyone and everything i want, except if i am in an area where it is not permitted.. it depends on the usage of the photo afterwards. she wanted my name and adress to "sue" me. i told them that it's not a problem, they'll end up in a porn magazine.. so they don't have to worry.

(can't add the medium format shots from that day atm, will print and scann them later)

i'll use this photo as an opener for a series i shot at the national holiday, called "vienniese sightseeing".. my fav shot since i'm back probably.

ryan showing how huge his...

we went inside to eat. ryan tried to get some chicks.. but he was rather unsexy eating a huge sandwich.

i found that scene intresting.

no

not really.. just the girl.
we went to the darkroom to had a gay threesome.. no we developed films, really... ;)

since i had the 400 loaded.. 1/30th f2.0

more panning at f2.0 1/4th. still the 400iso tri-x.

that's ryan at a 1/4th shutter. he looks even sexier. we ended up eating a hot dog every night between 2 and 5am in that bar called "kiosk". beside ourselfs, we met some other celebs there.

shooting iso400 in the nightbus asks for the 1/8th.. lol

this one is for ryan. she was so unbelievably emo.. i could have shit my pants.. crying all her mascara, the little goth girl with her goth friends.. she seemed to share her love with both.. very strange couple.. ehrm threesome.. whatever.

nappy nap.

last shot of my quick gay affair, ryan. taken with m6 and 580ex bounced on wall, 5.6 1/45th.

the end !

decided to submit the last photos regulary again. i just didn't have the time to write so much about paris so far... so yes, here with little stories again:

little midday nap hehe.

chilling at the corner.

french bikes:

l'emo.

jealous of the i-pod ?

we met maschenka and dimitri the other day.

we've been to a great japanese restaurant. miriam is failing with the wooden sticks here.. ;P

the restaurant:

on the way to their place. metro. always good for a photo.

we went to this cafe/club.. t'was cool.

dimitri. taken by miriam. almost correctly focused.. (i didn't say that!)

maschenka.. in thoughts.. and a funny pose too.

a parisian car.

had some good drinks at their place. real french stuff.. ;) didn't have more photos left on the trix+3 so shot with the trix normal one.. this photo turned out though haha..

the bokeh of paris. photo of the view of dimitri and maschas apartement

one of these shots you have to explore a little:

she smiled at me. weird, since she was blind.

we've been to the pizza hut and enjoyed some expensive fast food.. almost as much as this guy:

in the centre pompidou.

panning action. f2.0 1/8th 125asa. chatelet les halles.. loved this station for photos.

officially the ugliest building in paris. not that i am against modern architecture.. but this black box destroys the whole cityscape of paris.. you can see it from everywhere, almost.

taking a piss on the french MC-D.

the only difference to paris and greece is that their cats are much fattier.. but i think paris has more gyros than zeus and all his mates.

cha and her sisters.. while doing some
art.

actually.. no matter how comfortable or fresh these shoes might be.. i always found them ugly as shit. some people even dare to wear them with white socks.. eek. at least this person was kinda clever..

my favourite shot of paris probably. i'm pissing my pants everytime i see it. this one was a one hander as far as i remember, since cha just called me right that moment.. i told her that i'll call back, because i didn't want to miss the shot..

like cha's shot. just from my angle.

this guy.. you know him from cha's photo. (ps: her one is wrong, sidewise :P)

last metro shot. a classic.

we had some pasta. (i was the chef) .. there are people on this planet that'd kill for my pasta !

the shizzle

Monday, October 23, 2006

i've decided to show the photos from the trip to paris by each day. on the first day i took 2 b/w rolls and a few colours frames.

my first photo in paris. first time we took a rest and got rid of our luggage. miriam and i had something to eat on these stairs beside the saine. thi woman sat down behind us, took a green apple out of her bag and i knew what to do.

following photos: plus-x 125, leica m6, 35mm f2.0 summicron:

miriam showed me a place behind the notre dame, where we sat down for a moment. this guy beside us took staged photos of someoene with a book. he gave her instroducions of how holding the book, like a pro, but using a disposable kodak 1-time camera made me just wonder... hah.

one legged pigeon.

you could hear him from far. it sounded like a one man parade. he was drumming on his can and screaming wild things.. he asked for money and i thought i'd better give him something so that he'll leave us. i was just having my first warm meal so all i wanted is to make him go away. i'm glad this photo turned out to be something.. because i had all my luggage arond me, on my back a bag on my shoulder, the gyros in my left hand and my prints and the coke.. so shooting this photo was rather tricky.. lol

she took some photos of him form above. she left with a "wave" after she had enough photos.. he tried to commuicate with her.. in "his" language.

yeah. we met suzage for half an hour. she's a cool lady. this shot should show that hopefully.. crazy chick !

me being mean, shooting a french coinslot :]

after the gyros-lunch. cha took us to her home. i took some detail photos just for fun.

got rid of the luggage, we went back downtown. this little dog "barked" like a dying rat on the roof there. first impressions of gentiliy, cha's residence.

french cars ! :O

first metro shot, still using plusx125, thanks for standing in the light for me mister ;)

miriam and i checked something to eat and drink in a "francprix" supermache ! these old ladys cought my attention.. funny couple they were.

on the way to the eiffel tower..

wish i was closer here.. full view is needed

in the metro again..

of course i needed a photo of me there.. ;)

we walked to the louvre later. switched to kodak 400nc, my most favourite c41 film.

got dark. trix+3:

haha.. yeah came across this. a coat made of chinchillas for 24.000 euro.. i wonder how many chinchillas had to die for this ugly coat..

back home at cha's:

finaly in the bed.

tomorrow: day 2

bernhard and i went there. out of curiosity, intrest and as a learning experience. next time, we need 1.4 lenses and a flash.. that's what we've learned about the photography part.. what we've learned about the life-part.. well.. as an arrogant person i can only say, these people are primitive dumbasses. these photos are no journalistic photographs but rather a critique on the whole. i could not believe what was going on there. well. the photos are kinda crap.. bern and i have been disappointed, because we didn't expect it to be that dark and hard to shoot. well next year, we're gonna be prepared and go deeper and shoot more.

photos from the eroitc-fair vienna 2006

ps: one b/w roll will be scanned. photos will be added to the blog later.
back from paris with 18 more filled rolls and one girlfriend less.

my plans are. developing the 14b/w tonight. scan them till tomorrow, bring the 4 c41 to the lab scan them tomorrow night and start to submit.

here some leftovers from two rolls before leaving vienna for 2 weeks.

she was too close for the m. so i put the focus on 0.7m and held the camera beside me. either i'm a photogod or was damn lucky to get the focus dead on.

1/2 second. who the fuck needs tripods :P

we met radiohat by accident. he touched berns leica and jerked off immediately in his pants.

bern having fun while melting austrian handmade deluxe chocolate in warm milk.

she's back in germany. i gave her the finger. i'm sure i had a reason for it. have fun in little wiesbanden nicole !

greetings from paris, paris hilton...

i've actually maby more shots but loading 17mp raws on cha's computer is like reading the bible (twice) i also know that these photos could look like shit colourwise.. but give a f about it.

beside the more or less classic portraits, i've focused also on elements that symbolize human appearance and the most obvious was the radiostation. so i collected those i found.

it soon was clear to me that there were no women except the secretary, which does not stand for a special profession of a power plant in this case, so was not added to the portrait series, were not existing. there was no woman working in the plant directly so to say. the only appearance of women were pin up calendars. so i collected a few of them and still avoided to be striking.

please keep in mind that these images are plain previews and that on a print you'll see more detail of course.

during my stay, i've also realized some "secure initiatives", mostly in form of posters. i've just added three to the series, because the contrast is stronger then. the oldest i found and first in the series must be from the mid 70ys and the newsest is just a few years old. it was intresting to study the difference in style and message. they are quite offensive and straigh. it's german language of course.

first impressions of the project. i was shooting portraits of power plant workers last week. it was a project of the academy and the austrian hydro power (verbund). people did not know that someone will come to take photos of them, so it was all a very complicated situation sometimes. we (robert and i) had 3 days time to realize our ideas. we had to share our time, because we "only" had one scout, who was a great help. he had access to all power plant stations and any little door.. had the knowledge how to get to the best views etc. so in short, i had not much time to shoot and realize my ideas. i have had planned to visit the workers homes too, what turned out to be impossible in about 3 days of shooting. so i focused on portraits at work. i took photos of people in their natural invoronment at work or with a symbolic element that represents their area of responsibility. for an exhibition it will be important to add name and function to the photographs to let the "concept" work.

i have other sub-series , like photos of certain human details i found there or just documentation of the effort that got investigated to take some of the photos but first will show the portraits, since i'm still scanning the recent b/w material.

photos taken with kodak plusX125, kodak trix400 and kodak trix+3, leica m6 summicron 35/2

recent neg-scans.

studies started again. most of the photoclass students went to the next cafe, where 90% had "early grey" with a shot of milk. 6 in a row.

first the public transport photos. f2.0 1/15th apx100

train got stuck several times. it got filled more and more each station. this photo was taken during a stop in between two stations, leaning to the left. people got pissed. i was lucky enough to be on the end of the cabin. so i stood on the seat and took this shot. unfortunately i only had a apx100 with me. so the exposure was 1/15th with f2.0, which seemd to work out in the end.. glad it did.

train was still stanging. saw this right in front of the window.. haha

photo on a roll i started back in may. taken with 24mm f2.0 1/8th tmax100 slr !

now to some street:

4 recruits having a kebap

i could kill myslef for not including the babies in the frame.. but the photo is nice though

took this one because of the skull ;)
calling pantene pro-v that their product sucks, maybe..

the END!

today i was re-scanning some negatives to be able to offer best quality for prints i want to print myself or make avaiable at deviantart. this time i was adjusting colour balance and brightness/contrast before scanning the neg in a preview-scan. see the difference yourself, it may seem little but helps a lot the mood and aesthetics in my eyes. all these images seemed flawless to me before actually starting to work on them on the pre-scan. nobody has ever mentioned any tints of colours but when you see them compared it seems obvious that there was a small but visible mistake in colour or contrasts.
